Editor's Note: This article assumes you already know how to edit your About page. If you do not, please read Making a Snazzy and Informative About Page.

Have you started updating your About Page, but are stumped about what to include?

Deidre Uqob, Organizer of the NYC Archery Meetup and Bob Watkins have suggested these ideas for things that your About Page should cover:

  1. State your Meetup group's mission.

  2. If you have good photos of your group, include them!

  3. Highlight what makes your Meetup group unique and what value a member gets from joining and participating.

  4. Make sure you highlight the most critical facts about your Meetup group.

  5. Describe what a typical member is like.

  6. Give some idea as to what happens at your monthly Meetups.

  7. Point out where they can go to check out the upcoming Meetups you have scheduled or a review of a recent one, or an FAQ; link to any place that gives a good and informative impression of your Meetup group, but make sure to do that toward the end of the document. You want them to read through it and then check out more information.

  8. Mention the name of your Meetup group toward the top without any formatting tags, and include words you want associated with your group. This can greatly improve your club showing up in searches.

  9. Clearly state, but with some level of sensitivity, who isn't appropriate for your Meetup group.

  10. At the bottom of the page, put links to other sites with resource material for your topic.

  11. If you have a sponsor, you can put a logo and thank you statement there.

  12. If you want to recognize certain members of your group who are regular volunteers that help you out, such as host/hostess of additional Meetups during the month, you can introduce them here.

  13. Close with thanking them for checking out your Meetup group, and encourage those who are interested in the core goal of your group to join.
