Meetup Messenger, Issue #6: Good news about Meetup this week

My Fellow Meetup Organizers,

I'm excited to report that 2007 is off to an amazing start: This week, we broke our record for Most New Members and Most New Organizers! Congrats to each of you who just started your Meetup or are getting new members to your Meetup!

Some of your New Members may have joined because of a New Years resolution...

• They resolve to get fit, so they want a Walking Meetup, Biking Meetup etc.
• They resolve to make a difference, so they want a Political Meetup, Environment Meetup etc.
• They resolve to meet others or get out more, so they want a Moms Meetup, Dog Meetup etc.
• They resolve to learn, so they want a Language Meetup, Knitting Meetup etc.

Maybe, they just resolve to have more community in their lives.

Help 'em keep their resolution! Make your Meetup more welcoming. Suggestion: Take a look at your January Meetup and add more detail. They want to know what to expect, they want to feel that they're wanted, and they want to know that they should take the bold step of showing up. Browse others' Meetups for inspiration.

It's "You". Not you, personally. It's all of you using the internet in new ways. They say,"It's a story about community and collaboration on a scale never seen before." It's not about Meetup specifically, but nobody is doing real community and collaboration like you and your Meetups. We use the internet to get people off the internet! You really are the new heroes of society, and we're just getting started!

PPS. Congrats to the Meetups who participated in the Meetup Holiday 5000. You smashed the 5000 goal with over 7,000 items collected at your Meetups!
