What's an Amazon Payments Business Account and why do I need one?
An Amazon Payments Business Account is a way to receive payments from people. If you are an organizer, you need to set one up to use some of the features on the Meetup.com website. Learn more about Amazon Payments!

How do I set up an Amazon Payments Business Account?
You can set up an account on the Amazon Payments website, but Meetup HQ recommends that you either set up a Meetup event, select "Charge members to attend this Meetup?" and follow the prompts OR click on manage under your sponsor logo. Either way, Meetup HQ will guide you through the set up process.

First, we'll send you to the Amazon site so you can fill out your account information.

Then, you'll be required to verify your email address with Amazon Payments before you'll be able to accept payment from your members. Amazon will send you an email with instructions on how to do this. You will be required to sign in to Amazon in order to verify your account.

Once you have verified your email account with Amazon Payments, you'll be all set up to accept payment with Amazon Payments.

Who can set up an Amazon Payments Business Account?

Amazon requires that to set up an Amazon Payments Business Account, you need a bank with a US address. If you don’t have a bank with a US address, you can’t set up an Amazon Payments Business Account at this time.

I already have an Amazon Payments Business Account. Can I use it?
Yep! Just set up a Meetup with "Charge members to attend this Meetup?" selected, follow the prompts and log in with your existing Amazon Payments Business Account information. If it's to accept your Sponsorship Payments, simply click on "manage" under your sponsor logo and follow the prompts.

How do I get money into my bank account?
To tie your Amazon Payments Bussiness Account to your bank account, follow these instructions. (You will be required to sign in to your Amazon Payments Business Account)

When I'm signing up for an Amazon Payments Business Account I'm being asked a bunch of questions about my business and other stuff. How should I answer?

Well, it's totally up to you, of course! But if you want some guidance, here is what Meetup HQ recommends:

*Type of Ownership - Unless you have registered your business with the government and have a tax payer ID, we recommend you select "Individual."

*Business Category - Select whatever category you'd list your Meetup Group under. Got a book group? Try "Books." Got a Hiking Group? Try "Sports & Recreation."

*Sales Venue - For this we recommend that you list your Meetup Group URL (sample: http://newtech.meetup.com/1/)

*Date Established - What's the approximate date you started your Meetup Group? List that.

*Estimated Transaction Volume Per Month - This means, "how many times a month do you think your members will pay you using Amazon Payments?". Doesn't need to be exact. This is for Amazon to know, so they can get an idea of how much traffic they'll get. If you're not sure what it will be, just select the smallest amount.

*Average Transaction Amount - This means, "what do you think will be the average amount you'll charge each time you charge?" Again, this can be a guess. This is just for Amazon's market research information. If you're not sure what it will be, just select the smallest amount.

*Customer Service e-mail address - This is really important - especially in the case of any future disputes. Make sure you provide a real email address that you check frequently.
